New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway Report High Traffic Volumes and Infrastructure Updates
The New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway are among the busiest toll roads in North America, with 747 million vehicles traveling a total of 12.8 billion miles last year. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has been actively working on infrastructure improvements, including the replacement or rehabilitation of all 21 service areas since 2014. The authority emphasizes the importance of using E-ZPass to save money on tolls and advises drivers to ensure their transponders are properly mounted. Additionally, heavy trucks over 10,000 pounds are prohibited north of Interchange 105 on the Garden State Parkway. The roads utilize variable speed limit signs to enhance safety and traffic flow, adjusting limits based on conditions.
