Cambodia's SME Development Strategy Calls for Targeted Support and Coordination
Cambodia is focusing on enhancing its small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as a central part of its economic development strategy. According to Sarak Duong, Managing Partner at SME Frontier Partners, the country has developed a comprehensive ecosystem to support SMEs, involving government agencies, financial institutions, and private service providers. The emphasis is now on ensuring that support is tailored to the specific needs of SMEs, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. This involves segmenting support based on the sector, size, and maturity of the business, and translating policies into practical, measurable support. The goal is to improve productivity, management, market access, and investment readiness of SMEs.
