Montgomery County Auditor Reports Significant Increase in Property Values Following 2026 Reappraisal
In Montgomery County, property values have seen a substantial increase following the 2026 reappraisal. According to Auditor Karl Keith, the total real estate value in the county has risen from $39 billion to nearly $46 billion, marking a $7 billion increase. This reappraisal, which is a state-mandated update, affects over 260,000 property owners. Despite the rise in property values, Keith emphasized that property taxes will not increase at the same rate. Most property owners can expect an average property tax increase of 1.5% to 2% in 2027. Property owners who disagree with their new valuations have the opportunity to schedule a free, informal review through the end of August. The Auditor's Office is also hosting community forums to help residents understand the reappraisal process and their new property values.
