Lancaster Construction Projects Cause Traffic Disruptions and Festival Access Changes
Two significant construction projects in Lancaster are currently affecting local traffic patterns. The Arbor Valley Drive project involves a comprehensive reconstruction, including new asphalt, curbs, and drainage systems, with work expected to continue until late August. To accommodate the Lancaster Festival, special access has been arranged for July 18, July 22, and July 25, with entry permitted from East Fair Avenue only. Meanwhile, the Sixth Avenue bridge over Fetters Run is undergoing a major structural overhaul, necessitating its closure to through traffic. This project involves replacing the bridge deck and is located just west of Cherry Street. Heavy equipment and construction crews are active in both areas, prompting officials to advise drivers to seek alternative routes, particularly during peak traffic hours, and to exercise caution around work zones.
