South Dakota Hall of Fame Announces 2026 Inductees, Including Former Air Force Academy Football Captain John Kucera
The South Dakota Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 class of inductees, featuring 10 individuals recognized for their contributions across various fields, including health, philanthropy, arts, business, and agriculture. Among the honorees is John (Jack) Neil Kucera, a Deadwood native who captained the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) football team and earned honorable mention All-American honors. Kucera's achievements extend beyond sports; he built Climatec BTG from 7 to 850 employees, co-founded Huntair and BasX, and chaired the Air Force Academy Foundation board, raising $330 million. He is also a pilot who has flown over 400 charity flights and co-chairs the capital campaign to renovate the Homestake Opera House in Lead with his wife, Vianne. The induction ceremony is scheduled for September 11-12 in Chamberlain and Oacoma.
