Arizona Attorney General Sues Apartment Owners Over Neglect and Unsafe Living Conditions in Tucson
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has filed a lawsuit against the owners and managers of three Tucson apartment complexes: Sedona Springs, Sienna Ridge, and Summit Ridge. The lawsuit alleges severe and ongoing neglect, including inadequate air conditioning, broken windows, water and gas issues, structural problems, and pest infestations. Residents have reported that air conditioning units often fail to cool apartments to the required Pima County standard of 80 degrees Fahrenheit or less, frequently exceeding 90 degrees. The complaint details a pattern of problems dating back to at least 2023. Tenants at Sienna Ridge, for example, have described persistent issues such as lack of hot water, non-functional toilets for extended periods, water-damaged ceilings, and safety concerns due to a visible homeless population and attempted break-ins. The Attorney General's office is seeking court-ordered repairs, restitution for affected residents, and civil penalties for the harm caused by these conditions.
