Teenager Arrested, Five Others Sought in Deadly Washington State July 4 Fire
An 18-year-old from Kent, Washington, has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and arson in connection with a deadly July 4 fire. Douglas County Sheriff Tyler Caille reported that the teenager was part of a group setting off illegal fireworks from a truck when one ignited roadside brush, leading to the fast-moving Chelan Hills Fire. The fire burned approximately 15.6 square miles, destroyed over 100 structures, including 19 homes, and resulted in the death of 69-year-old Robert Lister, whose vehicle was consumed by the flames after sliding off the road. Authorities are currently seeking arrest warrants for five other individuals involved, all of whom are over 18 and considered complicit in the crimes. Sheriff Caille urged these individuals to surrender, emphasizing the severe consequences of their actions, which he described as 'complete recklessness' leading to significant property loss and a fatality.
