Cornell University President Involved in Low-Speed Incident with Protesters
Cornell University President Michael Kotlikoff was involved in a low-speed incident where he struck a student and a recent graduate with his car. The event occurred following an Israel-Palestine debate on campus, where Kotlikoff had delivered introductory remarks. As he left the event, he was followed by protesters who questioned him about speech and disciplinary policies. According to The Cornell Sun, Kotlikoff backed his car into the individuals, but no serious injuries were reported. Videos from the incident show protesters following Kotlikoff to his car, but do not confirm his claim that they were banging on his vehicle. In a subsequent email to the campus, Kotlikoff condemned the protesters' actions as harassment and intimidation, asserting that such behavior is unacceptable in an academic community. He also mentioned that some of the protesters were known to the university for previous disruptive conduct.
