Severe Thunderstorms in Texas Cause Hospitalizations and Extensive Damage
On Tuesday, severe thunderstorms swept through parts of Texas, particularly affecting the city of Mineral Wells, located about 45 miles west of Fort Worth. The storms resulted in at least two hospitalizations due to injuries caused by powerful winds that ripped roofs off homes and flattened buildings. The local fire chief, Ryan Dunn, reported that while two individuals were hospitalized, others with minor injuries received treatment on-site. The storms left significant damage, displacing families and littering streets with debris. In response, the mayor declared a local state of disaster, and a curfew was imposed to ensure safety and protect personal belongings. The National Weather Service indicated that the storm system, which included at least one unconfirmed tornado, was moving southeast and could produce large hail, damaging winds, and additional tornadoes.
