Congressman Marc Veasey Secures $1.2 Million Federal Funding for Dallas Recreation Center Upgrades
Congressman Marc Veasey has presented $1.2 million in federal funding to Dallas leaders for the Martin Weiss Recreation Center. This funding will support upcoming renovations and an expansion of the senior activity center. The recreation center had previously secured $9 million through the 2024 Bond Program for interior and exterior improvements. The federal allocation will specifically contribute to storm drainage improvements, interior renovations, a new kitchenette, and upgrades to mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems. According to the 2024 bond dashboard, the project is currently in the design phase, with construction anticipated to commence in 2027 and reach completion by 2028. City leaders and community members gathered to celebrate this investment, which is expected to enhance a vital community hub.
