Bronx Defenders Union Joins Strike Over Economic Demands
The Bronx Defenders Union has joined an ongoing strike of public defenders in New York City, demanding better economic conditions for its lowest-paid workers. Approximately 300 staff members walked off the job, adding pressure to the city's court system. The strike follows similar actions by the Harlem-based Neighborhood Defender Services and the Brooklyn Defender Services. The union is advocating for equitable pay increases across all roles, including non-attorney positions, amid negotiations with management.
