Boulder Care Receives NIH Grant to Enhance SUD Care in Marginalized Settings
Boulder Care, a virtual substance use disorder (SUD) provider, has been awarded $1.8 million by the National Institutes of Health to design and test care pathways in marginalized settings. The grant, supported by the NIH’s National Institute on Drug Abuse, aims to address the gaps in opioid use disorder treatment, particularly in underserved areas. Boulder Care plans to focus on community corrections, pregnancy and postpartum care, tribal healthcare systems, and transitions from residential treatment and emergency departments. The initiative will involve providing patients with smartphones preloaded with the Boulder app, cellular service, and Wi-Fi to facilitate virtual care. The study will measure outcomes such as care continuity, retention, and quality of life.
