French Navy Intercepts Russian Sanctioned Tanker in Atlantic with UK Support
The French Navy, supported by the United Kingdom, intercepted a Russian oil tanker under international sanctions in the Atlantic Ocean. French President Emmanuel Macron announced the operation, stating that the tanker, named Tagor, was boarded by French soldiers. The interception is part of ongoing efforts by nations supporting Ukraine to target Russian oil exports, which are believed to finance President Vladimir Putin's war efforts. The tanker was intercepted over 400 nautical miles west of France and is suspected of operating under a false flag. French authorities are escorting the tanker for further checks, and a criminal investigation has been opened.
