Search Continues for Missing American Woman Swept Out to Sea in Bahamas
Lynette Hooker, an American woman from Michigan, is missing after reportedly falling overboard from a boat in the Bahamas. The incident occurred on April 4, 2026, as Lynette and her husband, Brian Hooker, were traveling by dinghy from Hope Town to Elbow Cay. According to Brian, Lynette fell overboard with the boat keys, causing the engine to shut off. Strong currents quickly carried her out to sea, and Brian lost sight of her. He managed to paddle to shore, reaching Marsh Harbor Boat Yard hours later. The Royal Bahamas Police Force, along with the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue, are conducting search operations. The U.S. Coast Guard is also assisting in the search.
