San Francisco Opens New School in Mission Bay Amid Enrollment Decline
San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) has opened a new elementary school in Mission Bay, despite a significant decline in student enrollment across the district. The new school is part of a redevelopment plan initiated in 1998, aimed at accommodating the growing population in Mission Bay, a neighborhood that has seen rapid development over the past three decades. The school, funded by a 2016 bond program, is designed with modern facilities and will initially serve pre-K through kindergarten, with plans to expand to higher grades. The opening ceremony was attended by local officials and community members, highlighting the school's role in fulfilling a long-standing promise to the neighborhood.
