States Seek Federal Funds to Offset Medicaid Cuts for Rural Hospitals Under President Trump's Bill
States are anticipating an influx of federal funds over the next five years to bolster rural healthcare, aiming to offset significant Medicaid cuts projected under President Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act.' This legislation is expected to reduce Medicaid funding by nearly $1 trillion over a decade, a move that has raised alarms among rural hospitals and doctors who serve a large number of Medicaid-dependent patients. In response to these concerns, Congress allocated an additional $50 billion to the bill, establishing the Rural Health Transformation Program.
