Ukrainian Drone Attacks Reported in Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk Regions, Russia
The Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions in Russia have reportedly been targeted by Ukrainian drones, marking the first such attacks in these areas. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the regions, located over 1,700 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory, experienced drone activity on Saturday morning. In Yekaterinburg, the fourth most populous city in Russia, smoke was seen rising from a residential building, and six people were injured, though no fatalities were reported. The governor of the Chelyabinsk region stated that an attack on a facility in the city was thwarted, with no casualties or damage reported. Despite official statements, local residents reported hearing explosions near the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant. The Defense Ministry claimed that 127 drones were shot down overnight.
