Mace attributes her lack of endorsement to her stance on the Epstein files. Representative Thomas Massie, who led the bipartisan effort to release the files, lost his reelection bid after Trump endorsed his opponent. The issue has become a point of contention in upcoming elections, with some Republicans believing it continues to influence political contests.
