The National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory for portions of Lake Erie, including areas from The Islands to Vermilion, Avon Point to Willowick, and Geneva-on-the-Lake to Ripley, NY. This advisory is in effect until 4 PM EDT on Monday, October 5, 2026. Winds are expected to range from 15 to 20 knots, with wave heights reaching 2 to 4 feet and occasionally up to 6 feet. Conditions are forecast to improve later in the day as winds diminish and wave heights subside. Water temperatures in the region are currently 66°F (18.9°C) off Toledo, 68°F (20°C) off Cleveland, and 66°F (18.9°C) off Erie.

Man Jumps from Second Floor to Escape Cleveland House Fire, Sustains Stable Injuries

A house fire occurred on the west side of Cleveland on Sunday morning, prompting a 25-year-old man to jump from the second floor to escape the blaze. The incident took place in the 3000 block of W 116th Street, with the Cleveland Division of Fire responding to the report at 9:47 a.m. The man was subsequently transported to MetroHealth in stable condition. The fire resulted in the displacement of one child and one adult, who are now receiving assistance from the Red Cross. Firefighters have estimated the total loss from the incident to be $100,000. While the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, the Cleveland Fire Department has indicated that it was determined to be accidental.
