Rep. Judy Chu to Launch Altadena Chamber's Speaker Series at Historic Venue
Rep. Judy Chu is set to open the Altadena Chamber of Commerce's Legislative & Government Affairs 2026 Speaker Series. The event will take place at the Maxwell House in Pasadena, a site listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Chu, who represents California's 28th Congressional District, will speak from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Her district includes Pasadena and the west San Gabriel Valley. Elected in 2009, Chu was the first Chinese American woman in Congress and serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, which oversees taxes, revenues, Social Security, and Medicare. She also serves on the House Budget Committee. Recently, Chu has been involved in local recovery efforts following the Eaton Fire, organizing a roundtable with federal and state officials to discuss housing assistance for fire survivors. Additionally, she has co-introduced legislation to aid incarcerated firefighters in transitioning to professional careers post-release.
