Bishop State Launches Workforce Development Course for Waterfront Rescue Mission Participants
Bishop State Community College, in collaboration with Waterfront Rescue Mission, has introduced a new workforce development course aimed at equipping participants with essential skills and certifications. This initiative is part of a long-standing partnership between the two organizations, focusing on providing men from the mission with opportunities to gain industry-recognized credentials. The course, which began recently, spans seven weeks and includes training in forklift operation, flagging, and OSHA 10 safety standards. Participants attend classes three days a week, where they initially focus on safety requirements and personal protective equipment before progressing to hands-on equipment training. The program is designed to help participants, like Shemar Luckie, who has been at the mission for two months, to transition back into the workforce with valuable certifications that enhance their employability.
