Escaped Imperial County Inmate Re-Apprehended in Mexicali
Alexandra Meza, a 31-year-old inmate who escaped from custody while admitted to El Centro Regional Medical Center on March 27, has been re-apprehended in Mexicali. Meza was initially booked into the Imperial County jail on March 24, 2026, for two misdemeanor drug-related bench warrants. During her hospital admission, she managed to escape by removing her restraints and leaving through a nearby door. Following her escape, the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from local law enforcement, launched an extensive search and issued a countywide alert. On April 8, Meza was located by Mexicali Municipal Police and subsequently handed over to Imperial County authorities at the Calexico Port of Entry. She is now facing additional charges for escaping custody and is being held on a $45,000 bail.
