11-Year-Old Faces Court Citation for Motorbike Operation in Seminole County
An 11-year-old boy, Cade Kirchner, appeared in a Seminole County, Florida, court after receiving a citation for operating a motorbike without proper registration. Police stated the vehicle, powered by a 4,500-watt motor, was capable of reaching speeds of 50 MPH, making it a motorcycle under legal definitions, which Cade was not old enough to ride. Body camera footage showed Cade being fingerprinted, ticketed, and issued a court summons. An officer informed Cade that he was receiving one ticket instead of six potential criminal violations. Cade's attorney, Samuel Filler, entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf and expressed confidence that the case would be resolved. Cade's father, Chris Kirchner, criticized the necessity of his son missing school for the court appearance, calling it 'ridiculous.' The officer who issued the citation clarified to Cade that signing the ticket did not constitute an admission of guilt.
