French Military Site Hosts Dangerous Rave Amid Legislative Crackdown
Over 20,000 partygoers from across Europe attended an illegal rave at a French military site in Bourges, despite warnings of potential danger from unexploded ordnance. The event, known as Bourges Teknival, took place on a field historically used by the French military for testing artillery, which may still contain active explosive devices. Despite the risks, the rave continued with an additional 10,000 attendees expected. The French military and local authorities have expressed concerns over the safety of the site, which has been used for over 150 years for military testing. Emergency services reported at least 12 minor injuries during the event. In response to the unauthorized gathering, 600 police officers were deployed, resulting in numerous fines for narcotics offenses. The rave occurs as the French parliament considers stricter regulations on such unauthorized events, potentially introducing prison sentences for organizers and fines for attendees.
