U.S. Representative Mike Bost Announces Over $2.3 Million in FAA Grants for Southern Illinois Airports
U.S. Representative Mike Bost has announced that two airports in southern Illinois will receive more than $2.3 million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants. The Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois, located in Marion, is allocated $1,176,548. This funding is designated for the acquisition of a new aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle, along with essential protective equipment and medical kits, all aimed at enhancing airport safety. Concurrently, MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah will receive $1,149,763. These funds are earmarked for improvements to ensure the surrounding landscape complies with current FAA standards. Representative Bost highlighted the critical role these airports play as transportation hubs for the region, emphasizing that these federal investments are crucial for maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure, protecting travelers, and fostering economic growth in southern Illinois.
