Esports in K-12 Education: Benefits Surpass Implementation Challenges
At the TCEA 2026 conference, educators and students discussed the growing role of esports in K-12 education. Esports programs are providing students with new opportunities to develop social skills, collaboration, and career pathways. Students at Fort Sam Houston ISD in Texas reported benefits such as improved attitudes, teamwork, and community engagement through esports participation. The industry, now worth billions, offers career opportunities in various fields, including game development, broadcasting, and team management. Despite challenges in implementation, the positive impact on student engagement and skill development is evident.
