Great Falls Community Debates Data Center Developments Amid Regulatory Concerns
Residents of Great Falls, Montana, are actively discussing the potential development of large-scale data centers in the area. The conversation has been spurred by the state's attractiveness to data center developers due to its abundant land, water resources, and lack of sales tax and regulations. The Golden Triangle Resource Council, a local conservation group, is concerned about the impact on utility rates, agricultural land, water consumption, air quality, taxes, and public services. A public meeting is scheduled for July 21 to address these concerns and petition for regulatory safeguards. Meanwhile, Governor Greg Gianforte has signed President Trump's Ratepayer Protection Pledge, which requires data center companies to cover their energy and infrastructure costs.
