AI-Powered Blood Test Predicts Cardiovascular Risks 15 Years in Advance
Researchers from The University of Hong Kong have developed a new blood test, powered by artificial intelligence, that can predict a person's risk of developing serious heart and circulatory diseases up to 15 years before symptoms appear. The tool, named CardiOmicScore, analyzes a single blood sample to estimate future risks for six major cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease and stroke. The test utilizes a multiomics approach, combining genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to decode complex molecular signals. This method allows for the detection of early shifts in immune activity, metabolism, and blood vessel health, which are not typically captured by traditional risk assessments based on age, blood pressure, and smoking history.
