Over 80 Dogs Rescued from Kansas City, Kansas Home Following Reports of Aggressive Dog Fighting
Kansas City, Kansas, Police (KCKPD) and Kansas City Animal Services rescued 81 dogs from a home on Saturday after officers initially responded to calls reporting 'aggressive dogs fighting.' Upon arrival, additional dogs were discovered inside the residence. Sara Burdick, a fosterer for Pawsitive Tails, one of the organizations assisting in the rescue, described the scene as a 'horror scene,' noting that feces were at least six inches thick and the smell was overwhelming. Two individuals were taken into custody: the homeowner on outstanding warrants, and another man for trespassing. Volunteers from several animal welfare organizations, including Friends of KCK Animal Services, Pawsitive Tails, Heart of America Humane Society, Great Plains SPCA, and Melissa’s Second Chances, helped remove the dogs. Half of the rescued dogs are now with these organizations, while the remaining are under the care of KCK Animal Services.
