Louisville Teen Struck in Hit-and-Run, Family Locates Him Through Discovered Shoes
An 18-year-old Louisville resident, Kingston Maestas, was severely injured in a hit-and-run incident while cycling home from work on Friday night. The driver fled the scene after striking Maestas at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Valley Station Road. His parents, initially thinking he was with friends, became concerned when he missed his sister's birthday party the following day. After repeatedly calling his phone, a man who found it near a Walmart provided its location. Maestas's father, David Magalogo, and former football teammates went to the area and discovered Maestas's shoes, leading them to search local hospitals. They eventually identified Maestas, who had been admitted as a 'John Doe' nearly 12 hours after the crash. He sustained a collapsed lung, torn spleen, and damaged arteries, and is currently recovering in the ICU.
