New Jersey Implements Mandatory Employee Separation Reporting Portal for Employers
New Jersey has launched a new online portal requiring employers to report every employee separation to the state’s Department of Labor (NJDOL). This mandate, established under New Jersey Public Law, Chapter 120 (S2357) in 2023, was previously paused while the state developed the reporting system. The Division of Unemployment Insurance Employer Response Portal is now live. Employers must submit separation details through this portal within seven days of a worker's departure, regardless of whether it's due to layoff, termination, resignation, or retirement. The reported information will include the separation date, last day worked, reason for separation, wage and scheduling details, and employer/supervisor contact information. Employers are still required to provide employees with the BC-10 form but are not mandated to submit it via the portal.
