Women Pioneers Open Elite IDF Units to Female Fighters, Shaping Future Military Opportunities
Mor Lidani and Gali Nishri, former combat commanders in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), have successfully campaigned to open elite IDF units to female fighters. Through legal petitions, they have pushed for the inclusion of women in units such as Sayeret Matkal, Unit 669, and the Yahalom combat engineering unit. Their efforts have led to significant changes, allowing women to participate in these elite tracks, although some battles for full integration continue. This movement marks a significant shift in military policy, providing new opportunities for women in the IDF.
