Ohio Wildlife Center Overwhelmed by 150+ Storm-Displaced Animals
The Ohio Wildlife Center has taken in over 150 storm-displaced animals following severe storms earlier this week. Many of these animals are orphaned wildlife, including cottontail rabbits, squirrels, and songbirds, which require specialized care. The center reports that the animals have minor injuries, often from falls caused by the storms. Each species has unique needs, such as specific feeding equipment, diets, and handling protocols. The average cost of care ranges from $25 for cottontails to $75 for songbirds. The center is currently seeking donations from the community to help cover the costs of feeding, medical care, and eventual release of these animals back into their natural habitats. The organization is also in the midst of its busiest season, referred to as 'baby season,' which adds to the urgency of their request.
