WLRN/NPR Identified as Most Trusted Local News Source in South Florida Survey
A comprehensive study titled 'The State of South Florida Local News: Community Needs & Opportunities,' released by Press Forward South Florida, has identified WLRN 91.3 FM, South Florida's NPR affiliate, as the most trusted local news source in the region. The report, conducted by the American Journalism Project, Florida International University, and journalist Ariel Zirulnick, analyzed how residents across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties access and evaluate local information. The study revealed a significant gap between the platforms South Floridians use most frequently, such as social media, and the outlets they actually trust. While 66% of respondents reported relying on social media for local news at least a few times a week, focus group participants consistently ranked these channels among their least-trusted sources.
