Immigrant Rights Advocates Rally Against Newsom's Healthcare Budget Cuts
Immigrant rights advocates gathered outside the California state Capitol to protest Governor Gavin Newsom's proposed budget cuts to state-sponsored healthcare for undocumented immigrants. The revised budget plan would require monthly premiums for undocumented immigrants receiving Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program, and continue to block new adult applications. Advocates argue that these cuts would force immigrants to choose between essential needs and healthcare, leaving vulnerable groups such as refugees and older adults at risk. The rally, attended by about 100 people, was organized by several advocacy groups, including the California Pan-Ethnic Health Network. The governor's office has not commented on the rally.
