Governor Hochul Announces Modernization of Chambers St Subway Station with Congestion Pricing Funds
Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a comprehensive modernization project for the Chambers St subway station in New York City. The project, funded by congestion pricing, aims to rehabilitate the century-old station by rebuilding structures, replacing tiles, and upgrading stairways. The station, which serves over 18,000 riders on an average weekday, is in urgent need of repair due to water damage and structural decay. The project is part of the MTA's 2020-2024 Capital Plan and is expected to improve both the appearance and infrastructure of the station while preserving its historic details.
