Oregon Battles Four Largest Active Wildfires in the U.S.
Oregon is currently facing the four largest active wildfires in the United States, with over 1.7 million acres burned statewide this year. Approximately 11,619 personnel are engaged in firefighting efforts across 30 large fires in the state. The Northwest Interagency Coordination Center reports that dry, breezy conditions and low humidity are contributing to elevated fire risks, particularly in southeast Oregon. Additional firefighting resources, including teams from California and Washington, have been deployed to assist. The National Interagency Fire Center notes that fire activity remains elevated across the Northwest, with 45 uncontained large fires in Oregon and Washington. (Source: KATU, 2026-07-29 20:47:49 GMT)
