Brunswick County Approves Over 700 New Homes Near Bolivia Amid Resident Concerns
The Brunswick County planning board has approved two residential developments that will add over 700 single-family homes near Bolivia, North Carolina. The Amber Glen project will introduce 417 homes on Old Ocean Highway, while the Berkley Bay project has been revised to include only single-family homes, reducing its original plan by over 100 townhomes. Despite these changes, local residents have expressed concerns about increased traffic, potential flooding, and school overcrowding. The planning board's decision was influenced by the developments' dual access points, which are expected to improve connectivity. A new state law will shift future development decisions to the Brunswick County commissioners for applications received after July 2, 2026.
