FDA Issues Recall for 1.6 Million Dozen Eggs Due to Salmonella Risk Affecting Multiple States
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs produced by Midwest Poultry Services due to potential contamination with Salmonella Enteritidis. The recall affects white shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs distributed in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi, available at Kroger and Brookshire Grocery stores. As of the announcement, no illnesses have been reported. The recall is a precautionary measure to prevent potential foodborne illness, as Salmonella can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Midwest Poultry Services has halted the distribution of eggs from its Texas farms.
