Northbrook Residents Oppose Six-Story Condo Development Near Downtown
At a recent Village Board meeting in Northbrook, Illinois, approximately 200 residents expressed their opposition to a proposed development plan by Pulte Homes Group. The plan involves demolishing the Meadow Plaza Shopping Center to construct three six-story condominium buildings. The proposal, which includes 150 residential units and commercial spaces, was introduced to the Village Board in May. Residents voiced concerns about the impact on local businesses, increased traffic, and the height of the proposed buildings. The Meadow Plaza, a community staple since 1959, hosts various local businesses and the Northbrook Farmers Market. Despite the opposition, the Village Board President, Kathryn Ciesla, noted that the proposal is still in its early stages and no formal application has been submitted.
