Colombia Announces Diplomatic Pullback from Africa Amid Foreign Policy Restructuring
Colombia's president-elect, Abelardo De La Espriella, has announced plans to close several embassies in Africa, including those in South Africa, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Senegal. This move is part of a broader restructuring of Colombia's diplomatic network aimed at making the foreign service more efficient. The closures are intended to redirect resources to domestic priorities such as security, healthcare, and education. Despite the closures, Colombia plans to maintain diplomatic relations with the affected countries through concurrent representation from neighboring missions.
