Cincinnati Allocates $1 Million for Flood Relief Efforts
The city of Cincinnati has announced a $1 million fund to assist homeowners and businesses affected by recent flooding, with the potential for an additional $1 million pending City Council approval on August 5, 2026. Mayor Aftab Pureval emphasized the importance of quickly mobilizing these funds to provide immediate relief. The city's Department of Opportunity and Resident Services will oversee the distribution process, which aims to minimize bureaucratic delays. The funds will be coordinated with the Metropolitan Sewer District's Sewer Backup Program, leveraging existing applications to expedite assistance. Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney has also proposed measures to streamline the permitting process for flood-related repairs, with most permits expected to be issued on the same day.
