Palestinian Surfers in Gaza Find Solace Amid Conflict
In the Gaza Strip, despite ongoing conflict and a fragile ceasefire, a small group of Palestinian surfers are finding moments of joy by riding the waves of the Mediterranean Sea. The surfers, including Tahseen Abu Assi, face challenges such as a shortage of surfboards due to restrictions on imports since 2007. The Israeli military has heavily restricted sea activities, declaring Gaza's waters a 'no-go zone' and making surfing risky. Despite these dangers, the surfers continue to pursue their passion, finding relief in the sport amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
