FBI's 2017 Probe into President Trump as Alleged Russian Asset Revealed
Declassified memos reveal that the FBI opened a criminal investigation in May 2017, suspecting President Donald Trump of acting as a Russian asset when he fired then-FBI Director James Comey. The investigation, codenamed Oxferd Comma, was initiated despite the FBI's own evidence showing no collusion with Russia. The probe aimed to determine if Trump was directed by or coordinated with the Russian Federation, posing a national security threat. The investigation led to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, whose subsequent probe found no evidence of collusion. The memos also indicate that the FBI's concerns were based on allegations from the Clinton campaign, which were largely dismissed by agents.
