Archaeologists Uncover Ancient Roman Villa and Mosaic in Devon, UK
Archaeologists in Devon, UK, have uncovered a sprawling Roman villa dating back over 1,600 years, featuring an ornate mosaic made of thousands of tiny stone cubes arranged in a floral pattern. The excavation, led by the Saving Halberton's Ancient Roman Environment (SHARE) project, revealed the villa's integration into the Roman Empire, showcasing evidence of affluence and Roman civilization. Alongside the villa, two additional stone buildings were excavated, believed to be a bathhouse and an agricultural facility. Artifacts such as a copper-alloy bracelet, a silver-plated spoon, and pottery fragments were also found.
