Fire at Newport's Brenton Hotel Quickly Contained by Fire Department
A fire broke out on the roof of the Brenton Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island, due to a malfunctioning fire pit. The Newport Fire Department responded promptly, arriving within 15 minutes of the fire's onset at 9:17 p.m. on Friday night. The fire required crews to open multiple levels of roofing material to ensure it had not spread beyond the initial area. The situation was brought under control by 9:54 p.m., allowing hotel guests to return to their rooms. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the Newport Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
