Ship Operator and Employee Charged in Baltimore Bridge Collapse Leading to Six Deaths
Federal prosecutors have charged the Singapore-based operator of a ship and a key employee in connection with the 2024 collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge. The incident resulted in the deaths of six construction workers. The companies involved, Synergy Marine Pte Ltd. and Synergy Maritime Pte Ltd., along with Radhakrishnan Karthik Nair, the technical superintendent for the Dali container ship, face charges including conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding, and false statements. The Dali crashed into the bridge due to steering failure caused by electrical blackouts, which were linked to a loose wire and fuel pump issues. The crash halted shipping at the Port of Baltimore and caused significant economic disruption.
