Cinema Professionals Urge EU to Preserve MEDIA Program Amidst New Proposals
Over 4,700 cinema professionals, including notable figures like Francis Ford Coppola and Juliette Binoche, have signed an open letter urging the European Union to 'future-proof' the MEDIA program. This initiative, which has supported thousands of films over 35 years, faces potential changes under the proposed AgoraEU mega-program. The new proposal aims to consolidate spending for culture, media, and civil society, raising concerns about the future allocation of funds for the audiovisual and film sectors. The letter emphasizes the importance of the MEDIA program in sustaining diverse European voices and calls for its resources to be reinforced.
