Rio Rancho Schools Prepare for 2026-2027 Academic Year with New Initiatives
The Rio Rancho Public Schools (RRPS) are gearing up for the 2026-2027 academic year, with classes starting on August 6 for most students. This marks the first full school year under Superintendent Dr. Robert W. Dodd, who took office in March. The district has released a comprehensive Back-to-School Reference Guide detailing schedules, transportation, meals, safety, and technology. Key initiatives for the year include a new math curriculum, expanded special education support, and the implementation of a long-term strategic plan. Additionally, all students will continue to receive free meals under the state's universal meals program, and new policies will restrict the use of personal electronic devices during instructional time. The district is also introducing RFID bus cards for added safety and expanding its online payment portal for school transactions.
