Reddit is initiating tests for a new audio and video experience designed to bring viral stories to life, allowing users to consume content in a format similar to popular TikTok videos. This development follows CEO Steve Huffman's announcement during the second-quarter earnings call in July, where he noted that Reddit content was already being consumed in narrated forms on other platforms like TikTok and Meta's Reels. These external platforms often feature Reddit stories read aloud by creators or through text-to-speech, sometimes accompanied by unrelated visuals such as video gameplay or cooking content. The initial tests, which began on Monday, will involve both video and audio posts across selected communities.
